Is this your first time to a Magic Cicle?

CIRCLE ETIQUETTE

Circles where Magic forces are focused and applied, require a different standard of behavior than the mundane world.

Turn off your cell phone, PDA,  or anything else that would interrupt a meeting. In our circle, we also take off our shoes before we start.

Before participating in a cast circle, many Wiccans fast for a day. If you are unable to completely go without food, then eating lightly is a good idea - and many would urge vegetable based foods only. I urge you to be comfortable, don't overeat, don't under eat so much that you are light headed. And don't eat foods that make you gassy-!! Never drink alcohol or take recreational drugs before circle! EVER!!

You should take a special bath before entering a focused magical environment. Purification of the body, mind and the space being used, is essential for successful practice. Wear a clean garment, if you don't have a special ceremonial garment or robe set aside. Prepare your tools and your self before hand.

Many Wiccans practice sky-clad  (nude.) We do not require nudity, as this is an open circle.

Among Magic people of nearly every tradition, it is very RUDE to touch another person's tools. Think of it as akin to touching another's genitals or wallet. Even asking, in some circles, is the mark of a newbie or some one not serious about their own tools or practice. There is power stored in tools, and it makes magical items almost irresistible to many of us. You need to over come the strong draw stored magical power has. Keep your tools and  jewelry hidden from those who don't understand the sensitivity needed around such items. Many people have to re-consecrate their tools after they have been touched and therefor discharged by some one else.

NOTE:  Some ceremonial magicians put CURSES on their tools, so if the tools are touched, the violator receives some really bad effects!

As magic circles are cast, all focus should be on the work at hand. All mundane conversation should cease. YOU ARE IN THE PRESENCE OF FOCUSED POWER AND PERSONALITIES OF THE OTHER WORLD,  WHO COMMUNICATE VERY DIFFERENTLY AND ARE VERY SENSITIVE TO SLIGHTS AND WHO MAY NOT UNDERSTAND THAT YOU ARE JUST BEING FRIENDLY TO ANOTHER. You WILL scatter and confuse the energy with small talk and create frustration among others participants who are trying to focus, which will manifest in your life outside circle in detrimental ways.

Once the circle is cast, do not step outside the circle or violate the boundary. If you need to leave, let one of the officiants know and they will open and close a section of the circle for you. This is an important boundary to observe in all cast circles, in all traditions.

While in circle, remember to always turn deosil (Sun-wise or clockwise.) I liken it to being in a hot tub. Everyone gets the current flowing in a certain direction and if one person walks the other direction, the water gets choppy. The same thing happens with the power in circle.

Don't talk down another's magical style or another religion. As Pagans, we honor all the Gods, even if we don't worship them all. Guaranteed, someone will not like your style, or tradition, or religion, so BE CONSIDERATE of others' traditions and preferences. Creating a space of harmonious relationships requires basic politeness and good manners.

MERRY MEET!
